Printing Material Research

I researched the materials that were used to create scrolls and selected an appropriate one. The actual material is silk fabric paper which I could not get from anywhere for how long my scroll was. I looked at different printing companies in London for paper which was more cotton than paper based. The company I looked at had German etching paper which had cotton in the paper. I did ask for a sample and turned out that the material felt like paper still.

I continued on looking for companies in London till I found a printing company who does fabric. I got a swatch of over 70 different types of fabrics and the photographs down below are the ones I looked at.

I did like the cotton satin sample I got because of the print quality and how the colours came out.

So my initial idea was to print it on cotton satin, however the fabric was really thin which I was not intentionally going for.

The other fabric I really liked was the scroll fabric which I believe was the closes fabric to what I wanted. The fabric weights 120gsm and it felt like paper which was fantastic and the fact that when I asked for a test sample I rolled it up and folded it to see if it creased and tried tearing it but nothing happened and I decided that I will go with this fabric.
